WORK PRODUCT REVIEW
The work product review process is outlined below.
-
Board staff reviews the applicants experience log for compliance with the AQB Criteria, when applicable.
-
Board staff randomly selects a sample of the applicant's work; typically, this entails five reports with two having full workfile submissions.
-
Report selection, while random, covers the entire required reporting period and attempts to review various approaches to value and various property types.
-
Board staff emails the applicant a letter outlining the reports selected, the date the reports and workfiles are due, and instructions on how to submit the files.
-
Work product review files are typically due to the Board's office within 14 days.
-
Staff reviews the appraisal reports and associated workfiles for general compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and Board laws and rules. Board staff does not perform an appraisal review as defined in USPAP and does not endorse an applicant's work.
-
If the reports are deemed to be generally compliant with USPAP and Board laws and rules, the applicant's application will proceed through the review process and when eligible, the applicant will receive an authorization to sit for the national exam. If the work product review shows areas of concern or areas in which the reports are not compliant with USPAP and/or Board laws and rules, the applicant will be asked to either provide clarification, additional support, and/or submit additional reports for review. In some cases, the applicant may be required to obtain additional experience prior to being issued an examination ticket. Depending on the time in which the applicant takes to obtain any additional experience, the applicant may need to resubmit their application and/or obtain an updated background check.
