An Appraisal Management Company (AMC) must register with the NC Appraisal Board and receive a NC AMC license prior to advertising or engaging in business. Note: Only AMCs who meet the definition of an AMC will be placed on the AMC national registry.

How to Register as an Appraisal Management Company

To register as an Appraisal Management Company, an applicant will need to:

  1. Complete the AMC Registration application 

  2. Submit supporting documentation and forms (outlined below)

  3. Pay the $3,500 non-refundable application fee.
     

Supporting Documentation/Forms:

  • Compliance Manager Application (Compliance Manager must hold a current appraiser certification)​

  • Legal structure of the company and partnership agreement/organizational documents

  • Ownership list (Attachment A)

  • Officers and Directors list (Attachment B)

  • NC Secretary of State Certificate of Authority

  • Company agent located in NC (if domiciled outside of North Carolina)

  • $25,000 Surety Bond

  • Notarized Consent to Service of Process and Pleadings (if domiciled outside of North Carolina) 

  • Description of systems pertaining to certification numbers 1-4 as outlined on page 4 of the registration application.

  • Criminal Background Check results for the Compliance Manager and any person who directly or indirectly owns over 10% of the Appraisal Management Company.​
