
Registered Trainee
To get started in the appraisal field, applicants will need to become a registered trainee. A registered trainee may appraise those properties that their Supervisor is permitted by their current credential.
**It is not required for PAREA applicants to become a registered trainee with the Board prior to starting the PAREA program. See PAREA FAQ's here.
Qualifying Education
83 Hours of qualifying education completed within the five (5) year period immediately preceding the date of application and the NC Supervisor/Trainee course. The courses required are:
Basic Appraisal Principles - 30 Hours
Basic Appraisal Procedures - 30 Hours
Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations - 8 Hours
15-HR USPAP (or its equivalent) - 15 Hours
4- or 7-HR NC Supervisor/Trainee course
College Education
None - high school diploma or equivalent.
