The AQB Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria states:
A Certified General appraiser may appraise all types of real property.
Qualifying Education
Licensees holding a valid Registered Trainee credential may satisfy the educational requirements by completing the following additional 225 hours of education:

General Appraiser Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use - 30 Hours
Statistics, Modeling & Finance - 15 Hours
General Appraiser Sales Comparison Approach - 30 Hours
General Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach - 30 Hours
General Appraiser Income Approach - 60 Hours
General Appraiser Report Writing and Case Studies - 30 Hours
Appraisal Subject Matter Electives - 22 Hours
Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations - 8 Hours*

​Licensees holding a valid Licensed Residential credential may satisfy the education requirements by completing the following additional 150 hours of education:

General Appraiser Site Valuation and Cost Approach - 15 Hours

Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations - 8 Hours*

​Licensees holding a valid Certified Residential credential may satisfy the education requirements by completing the following additional 100 hours of education.

*The 8-hour (7-hour, plus 1-hour exam) Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations course is required to upgrade of not taken previously.​
College Education
Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience
3,000 hours of experience are required to be obtained in no fewer than eighteen (18) months. 1,500 hours must be in non-residential appraisal work.
